with local painter extraordinaire Jordan Bent

BUILT-IN OBSOLETE @ MIDFORMS 09

[March 8]
An Ecdysis Collective Interactive Installation
Showcase exhibition for the
Mid Forms Festival 09 (Vancouver BC)

Outfitted with all the latest
cutting edge gadgets- dusty treasure
and weathered wood, rusted-out contraptions
and outdated inventions- a curious
assemblage of technological oddities
long forgotten, operating in ways
they were never meant to be.

This installation juxtaposes the
contemporary and antiquated,
evoking a metaphysical fiction wherein
the ordinary tools of today- the
technology that we take for granted -
may be considered in an extraordinary light.

ARTIFACT

[Feb 9]
Down in Oakland/ East Bay for a week,
I met up with the folks at Artifact
who design beautiful wearable things.
We created a website and digital catalogue
and all sorts of printed filligree.

Check their work out online at
www.artifactapparel.com
or find them at Five and Diamond in the mission
or at summer events all up down the coast.

The theme for the 2009 New Forms Festival is
Emancipation through Creation:
The Convergence of Media Art,
Electronic Music and Digital Culture
.

Back in December, I threw together a proposal
For their annual web and print design, above.

They went with another designer,
but invited us to curate a showcase installation
for their upcoming event MIDFORMS,
taking place March 5th-7th 2009
at the Great Northern Way Campus, Vancouver.

I'll be posting more about this event here soon!

the upcoming album 'Contraries' by East Vancouver singer/songwriter,
multi-instrumentalist Joanna Chapman-Smith. Check out her work at
www.joannacs.com

BUDDHAFUL CUSTOM SERIES

[Nov. 10]
I went down to Seattle in the first week of November to
help out with the Obama campaign and dial in with the
kind folks at Buddhaful Clothing. I spent a few days
screenprinting up a custom series for Buddhaful on designs
produced by Isis Indriya.

Hit up Buddhaful for some juicy Seattle style: www.buddhaful.com
